What do you get when you cross an administrator with an empath? Highly intuitive support.

I’m an opera-singing, t-shirt-printing, dog-loving administrator. I help creatives and social entrepreneurs with their business admin on an as-needed basis, so they can get the support they need without hiring someone part-time or making a long-term commitment.

Before I started freelancing, I worked as a full-time administrator for over 20 years, mostly in small offices where we had to figure out how to do whatever needed to be done, whether it was in our job description or not. I inadvertently ended up with a uniquely versatile skill set, not to mention a knack for problem-solving. Then in 2016, I put those skills to the test and started my own creative business. Admin-wise I had a leg up, but the rest I made up as I went along. I’m still making it up.

It’s equal parts exhilarating and exhausting to run your own business — having to figure everything out on your own. I want to make it easier on you, and give you some relief.

15 Ways I Can Help

  1. Edit content. Newsletters, blog posts, proposals, website copy. Editing for comprehension, tone, and readability is my superpower.

  2. Write content. You choose the tone, give me the talking points, and I’ll find the words. I love writing. It really brings out my hyperfocus.

  3. Format documents. Once it’s written, I’ll make it look pretty.

  4. Update your online store. When you have an e-commerce website, the updates feel endless… product descriptions, uploading photos, updating inventory. Put me in coach!

  5. Create a website. Coding isn’t so much my thing, but if you’re looking to build a website with something like Squarespace or Shopify, I can get it up and running.

  6. Answer your emails. There’s nothing quite like having your inbox at zero.

  7. Create email templates. If you’re not already using the template feature in gmail, google it. You’re welcome.

  8. Update spreadsheets. And I’ll probably come up with a way to make it easier.

  9. Take meeting notes. I love synthesizing and organizing ideas and opinions. I’m good at it, too.

  10. Schedule meetings. Coordinating busy schedules is not for the faint of heart.

  11. Research. Send me into the Googleverse to collect information and summarize it for you.

  12. Set up systems. Whether it’s managing a big project or keeping your business finances organized, I’ll set up a simple process that will help you stay on top of things.

  13. Automate tasks. I’ll leave your workflow better than I found it.

  14. De-clutter your thoughts. It can be game-changing to have someone talk through your many, many ideas with you.

  15. Help you figure out what to do next. If your brain is spinning trying to figure out whether administrative support is right for you, email or text me. We can talk it through together (see 14).

“Goals are about the results you want to achieve. Systems are about the processes that lead to those results … You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

Skye’s the limit (it’s really about my dog).

I may have never come around to the idea of combining my admin skills and entrepreneurship experience to help small businesses if it weren’t for my sweet dog, Skye. She has separation anxiety and doesn’t do well when she’s left home alone. So when money got tight, instead of looking for a full-time job in an office, I brainstormed what I could do remotely, who I’d ideally like to work with, and how I could help them.

I love being able to help entrepreneurs in such a flexible way. And Skye loves that I can feed her treats while I do it.

Creatives and social entrepreneurs are some of the most tenacious, inspiring people I know.

You’ve done it. Maybe it’s not perfect. But you’ve worked your a** off to bring something important and meaningful into the world, the best way you know how. I think it’s a generous and courageous thing to do, and I’d like to help.

Admin support isn’t fancy or ground-breaking. But it can change your business, and your life.

Getting your admin systems cleaned up — whether that’s handing things off or putting new processes in place — will quickly and measurably improve your day-to-day. It’ll take the pressure off so that you can enjoy this business that you’ve built and have the systems in place to grow it into whatever you want it to be.
